Small Beeswax Lotion Bar | Natural Essential Oil Skincare Product
Small Beeswax Lotion Bar | Natural Essential Oil Skincare Product
This is the recipe I've been using (and tinkering with) for over 16 years for myself, my family, and friends. We use it on lips, wind-chapped cheeks, cuticles...pretty much anywhere it's needed. I even used this on my kids when they were babies. These lotion bars have the same ingredients as the hand salve and lip balm, but in different quantities so they are firmer and can be held in bar form at room temperature. The heat from your hand softens the bar and a small amount is transferred to your skin, leaving a thin layer.
I have pretty sensitive skin and have found that even shea and cocoa butters make me break out. All the ingredients in these bars can be used anywhere on your body and are gentle enough for babies. I also don't use pore-clogging ingredients because I want to be comfortable putting this on my face as well. And now my products are all free of tree nuts after my husband developed a tree nut sensitivity a few years ago.
I make these lotion bars using organic beeswax, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, and essential oils. All of the essential oils in my products are skin safe and do not cause photo sensitivity. The essential oil dilution rate for these bars is around 2%, so it's safe and gentle for every day use.
Ingredients
- Beeswax
- Grapeseed oil - I steep my own dried calendula flowers in grapeseed oil for several weeks before using it in my products
- Jojoba oil
- Vitamin E oil
- essential oils
*There is an unscented option available that does not contain any essential oils. It will smell like lovely pure beeswax, but that's it.
With such a short ingredient list, I often like to play with proportions to change the consistency. Hard lotion bars like these are great sitting next to a sink for often-washed chapped hands. Or carry them with you; the tins are small enough to stash in a bag or pouch. They make great gifts too!
If you're in a warmer climate and the lotion bar happens to soften, just put the tin in the fridge for a few minutes until it's solid again. Beeswax has a melting point of 145°F so it will take a lot of heat to make these bars melt.
Each lotion bar weighs 0.3 oz. They come in a 1 oz reusable tin with a screw top lid. This is the perfect size to fit in your purse or pocket.

If you're interested in more than the quantity listed in the shop please send me a message. I don't keep a large number of the balms/lotions in stock because I prefer to make small batches more frequently to keep them fresh. But I usually have the supplies on hand to accommodate a larger order!
